Life Time Achievement award

ACBM established the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019 to recognize outstanding late-career ACBM Members who have made significant contributions to the field of Medical Laboratory/ Basic Sciences and/or in the development of novel technologies that have advanced in of Medical Laboratory Diagnostics. This award can only be received once. Candidate himself can not apply for the award. A nomination application must be submitted to the awards committee by January 31 of the application award year. Applications may be submitted by email to secretary ACBM. A nomination packet is valid for two consecutive years provided the nominee meets the award criteria. After the end of second year, if the nominee was not awarded LTA but still meets the criteria, a new nomination form is required and may be submitted.

  1. Nominee has completed his/her terminal degree at least 15 years prior to the award date or approaching retirement.
  2. Nominee has been a Life member of ACBM for at least 5 years;
  3. Nominee is a current active ACBM member;
  4. The award Management committee can waive only one of the above mentioned Award Eligibility
  1. Nominee must have made significant contributions to the development and/or understanding of in Medical laboratory sciences/ basic sciences that historically has and will continue to distinguish their scientific work;
  2. Nominee demonstrated a consistent track record of significant and original basic and applied research contributions in the area of in Medical laboratory/ basic sciences;
  3. Nominee has an excellent record of publications including peer-reviewed journal papers, review articles and/or issued patents;
  4. Nominee had successful mentoring of graduate students, postdocs, staff members, visiting scientists, peers, etc.; or successful management record.

  1. Completed award nomination formsigned by two nominators (at least one nominator must be a active ACBM member);
  2. Two additional supporting letters from ACBM Life members who are familiar with the nominee’s contribution;
  3. Complete CV with latest photographs of the nominee including all professional achievements especially in the field of in Medical laboratory/ basic sciences.

Healthcare Crusader / President’s Shield Award

The President’s Shield is Nominated by the ACBM current President of the Association to mark an outstanding contribution to the society by the selected candidate within and outside the profession for their extraordinary work as administrator/ healthcare professional/researcher/ innovator/ Public servants’/ Bureaucrat/ minister, on the recommendation of ACBM Academic Council and by a majority of at least two-thirds of those voting at a Management Committee General Meeting, be selected to the category of President's Shield.

The eligibility includes short CV with latest photographs of the nominee including his/her all professional/administrative achievements. The award Management committee can waive Award Eligibility requirements.

ACBM Fellowship

Fellows of the Association who have made a significant contribution to the profession in one or more of the following areas:

  1. Continually led and instigated changes to meet the needs of Clinical Biochemistry/Microbiology / Medical laboratory/ Basic Sciences (Membership eligibility criteria) and Laboratory Medicine Services on behalf of a region or nationally.
  2. Developed exceptional educational and/or training facilities for the profession.
  3. Lead in setting up and developing, over a considerable period of time, a well-respected and valued specialized service that had a major impact either within a region or nationally.
  4. Raised the profile of the profession over many years, within the lay or clinical community, either regionally or nationally.
  5. Persons who have been Life Members of the Association for at least five preceding consecutive years and have actively participated in the area of specialization, on the recommendation of ACBM Academic Council and by a majority of at least two-thirds of those voting at a Management Committee General Meeting, be elected to the category of Fellow of the Association.

  2. Enrollment in ACBM digital registry as ACBM Fellow


Life Time Service award

For ACBM LM who has rendered his/her service to healthcare, has the highest serving period (from among the rest, irrespective of their qualification) and has the longest LM status. May or may not be a recipient of any other ACBM award.
